During Black History Month, we at Tulsie honor and celebrate Black Americans who fought for civil rights in the US. Their struggle, which resulted in large-scale civil rights reform, helped many Indian immigrants, particularly those who came to the US in the 1960s, largely on professional worker visas. Without their efforts, in our opinion, Indians would have had a tough time becoming American citizens and experiencing equality ( Non-whites could become naturalized only when the McCarren-Walter Act passed in 1952).
